Dr Richard Coates
Dentist
BDS (U’Ncle), Pg Dip Clin Imp Dent, ABACD, AAACD | GDC No. 68018
It’s fantastic working at Riveredge with such a forward thinking, motivated and happy team. It has given me the opportunity to continue doing the dentistry I love and improve it further. Dentistry changes by the month, and our patients can feel confident that at Riveredge, we will always be fully up to date with all things dentistry.
Richard is our Geordie dentist with over 30 years of experience in Dentistry, having graduated with a BDS from Newcastle University in 1992. Richard is one of only 2 dentists in the UK (and the only dentist in the UK outside of London) to be accredited with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. This is a world-renowned qualification held by very few dentists indicating his work has been scrutinised by the world’s most influential dental experts. More locally he is President of the North East Private Dentists.
He travels the world extensively to courses and has been a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry for 14 years and was a member of the European Society of Cosmetic dentistry for years before that. He is also one of only 19 dentists in the U.K. to be accredited with the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
He has also been a winner at the Aesthetic dentistry awards.
Richard lectures internationally both in Europe and North America and loves sharing the expertise he has learned over the years with fellow clinicians striving for perfection.
His credentials are undoubtably what our patients deserve to provide the smile they desire.
In his spare time Richard keeps fit Road race cycling (when not track cycling to and from work). He is also an experienced advanced scuba diver and in the winter is the oldest Snowboarder on the mountain. Oh yes and he can play the trumpet terribly. He is married to Claire, has a son finishing a Masters degree at University and his daughter is about to head off to University this year.
